CCTV System

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is a system where video cameras, video display, camera positioning /control accessories and processing /recording equipment directly connected. Directly connected means the components are using appropriate data /signal link system which could be copper wire, fiber optic cables, microwave, infrared beams, radio links, etc. CCTV is different from broadcast television where any receiver set that is correctly tuned can pick up the signal channel from the airwaves or cable networks.

Law enforcement agencies, hospitals, universities, manufacturing plants, business offices, places of worship, transport /utilities companies, shopping malls, highways, etc. all use CCTV systems from basic to specialized applications. There are numerous applications where CCTV is in use, from monitoring traffic on a bridge to covering events at football a stadium for purposes of safety /security or public announcements; hidden in buses for passenger safety or to control vandalism; recording the birth of a panda at a zoo, production control in a factory and many more events or situations where live monitoring or unmanned surveillance of hot spots is required.

CCTV equipment is available that could operate in broad daylight or even in darkest of nights, in the air or underwater, in hazardous processing plants and even combat zones.

Integrated multi-purpose structures provided a platform for large CCTV system installation using thousands of cameras requiring thousands of channels for video recording using Digital Video Recorders (DVR) allowing for large amount of video storage. Advances features are now available for harvesting video data and the use of video analytics (face recognition, motion sensing, people counting, crowd control, left luggage alarm, etc.) for automated analysis and response.

The rapid pace in the development of fast computer networks with ever increasing bandwidth now available and the improved video compression standards has benefited the CCTV users. The use of the internet for CCTV surveillance is growing at a fast pace too.
